In Kenya, the use of traditional cooking fuels results in significant greenhouse gas emissions and health hazards, with over 20,000 deaths annually attributed to such practices. The high cost of clean fuels and lack of awareness present significant challenges, underscoring the importance of the Dorado Ethanol Cookstove in providing a viable solution.

The project is in a growth phase, with a target to reach over 5,000 households in the first year, expanding to 10,000 households in subsequent years. The current focus is on Nairobi, where approximately 8,000 households still use charcoal cook stoves, presenting a significant opportunity for the Dorado stove.

The project involves a management team with expertise in engineering and chemical engineering, led by the Managing Director, Kimathi Murugu. The team's experience and the local production of the stove and its fuel ensure community engagement and support.

The Dorado Ethanol Cooking Stove uses Moto Smart ethanol gel fuel, which is over 90% ethanol and locally produced. The stove offers instant heat, negligible emissions, and is designed for convenience and safety. It also has the capability to warm a house, expanding its utility beyond cooking.

The introduction of the Dorado ethanol stove is expected to reduce air pollution and health risks associated with traditional cooking methods. It also promotes the economic empowerment of farmers and producers involved in ethanol production and creates jobs through the recruitment and training of citizens, including women and youth groups.
