On August 7, 2025, the first phase of the China–Kenya Cold Chain Cooperation Project, jointly initiated by Odysseus, was officially handed over on the shores of Lake Victoria, Kenya, marking a significant step forward in bilateral cooperation in the field of cold chain logistics.
Through the construction of modern cold storage facilities, the project provides local fisherfolk and fish vendors with round-the-clock fresh fish refrigeration and preservation services, reducing post-harvest losses from 35% to below 8%. This initiative plays a pivotal role in establishing a complete “lake-to-table” cold chain system.
The project adopts an innovative “cold storage leasing” service model, enabling local fisherfolk to access professional refrigeration services at a relatively low cost. It is expected to directly benefit more than 2,000 fisherfolk and fish vendors, injecting strong momentum into the development of Kenya’s blue economy.
